Julian Assange Extradition Case Enters Final Phase Amidst International Pressure

Belmarsh Tribunal to Put US Government on Trial for 21st Century Crimes

PI Establishes Belmarsh Tribunal to Expose War Crimes and Press for Assange's Freedom

The extradition case against Julian Assange is now in its final phase, with increasing international pressure for his release. In response to this, the Progressive International (PI) has established the Belmarsh Tribunal to place the United States government on trial for its crimes in the 21st century.

As war crimes escalate in Gaza and the West Bank, with over 17,000 people killed and more than 60 Palestinian journalists murdered in the past two months, the Belmarsh Tribunal has gathered in Washington DC for the fourth time. The tribunal is hearing testimony from experts in constitutional law, human rights, and international law to highlight the systemic violations and impunity within the US government's foreign policy.

The Belmarsh Tribunal is inspired by the Russell-Sartre Tribunals of the Vietnam War era and brings together a diverse range of experts to provide an independent assessment of US actions. The tribunal's findings will be presented to international bodies and used to hold the US government accountable for its crimes.
