Devastation In Central Japan
Bringing You The Latest Developments
A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck western Japan on Monday, triggering tsunami warnings and leaving at least four people dead.
The epicenter of the quake was near the city of Osaka, and it was felt across much of the country. The quake caused widespread damage, including collapsed buildings and landslides.
Tsunami warnings were issued for coastal areas of Japan, but they were later lifted. However, the quake did cause a small tsunami that hit the coast of Fukushima Prefecture.
The quake is the largest to hit Japan since the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, which killed more than 18,000 people.
Japanese authorities are still assessing the damage and the number of casualties. Rescue workers are searching for survivors, and emergency shelters have been set up for those who have been displaced from their homes.
