Albies Belts Three-Run Homer as Stripers Slip Past Jacksonville

Another Walk-Off Win for the Gwinnett Stripers

The Gwinnett Stripers (59-53) won their second straight game in walk-off fashion on Tuesday night, defeating the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (56-57) by a score of 5-2 at Coolray Field.

Ozzie Albies, the Atlanta Braves' second baseman, was assigned to the Stripers for a rehab assignment. He delivered a big hit in the bottom of the ninth inning, a three-run homer that gave the Stripers the win.

Strippers' Starting Pitcher Throws Gem

Starter Bryce Elder was solid for the Stripers, allowing just one run on three hits over five innings of work. He struck out seven batters and walked one.

The bullpen was also strong, with Jay Jackson, Tyler Ferguson, and Nick Anderson combining to allow just one run on three hits over the final four innings.

Jumbo Shrimp Starter Struggles

Jacksonville starter Tommy Romero struggled, allowing four runs on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out five batters and walked three.

The Jumbo Shrimp bullpen was also unable to hold the lead, with reliever Zach Jackson allowing Albies' game-winning homer in the ninth.

Stripers Win Series

With the win, the Stripers take the series from the Jumbo Shrimp two games to one.

The Stripers will now head to Norfolk to face the Tides in a four-game series starting on Thursday.
