Manchester City vs Real Madrid
Manchester City have one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League after beating Real Madrid 2-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie. Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden gave City a comfortable lead to take to the Bernabeu for the second leg on Wednesday. Real Madrid will need to score at least three goals to progress, but they will be without suspended defender Eder Militao. Toni Kroos also missed the first leg through injury and is a doubt for the return match.
City were the better team throughout the first leg and should have won by more goals. They created a number of chances, but they were wasteful in front of goal. De Bruyne and Foden both scored excellent goals, but they also missed a number of other chances. Real Madrid were poor and never really looked like getting back into the game. They were outplayed in midfield and their defence was shaky.
